Before packing up last Monday to head for home, we decided to do one of our favorite Missouri hikes — the Cave Spring Trail off Devil’s Well Road near Akers. It’s about 20 minutes from Echo Bluff State Park. The loop itself is about 4 miles. Add the spur down to Cave Spring and back — roughly 0.7 miles each way — and you’re looking at about 5.4 miles total. The trail rolls along the ridgetop, then works its way down through the woods to the base of the bluff, where Cave Spring pours straight out
