That's what happened on Thursday night when the Athletics' Jhonny Pereda was on the mound for the team as they were getting beat by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Pereda is normally a catcher, but he was on the mound for mop-up duty.

The Los Angeles Dodgers gave out a Shohei Ohtani bobblehead on Thursday showcasing their superstar stealing a base, in celebration of his unprecedented 50-50 season in 2024. He flashed the other part of that accomplishment during the game, cranking two homers in the span of two innings.

The Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated Shohei Ohtani's 50 home run and 50 stolen base season with another bobblehead night for the superstar. It marked the second Ohtani bobblehead night of the year, and the Japanese star hit a pair of home runs.

The Dodgers are reportedly promoting the top prospect in the organization for his Major League debut, according to mulitple reports Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers designated veteran catcher Austin Barnes for assignment and called up top prospect Dalton Rushing to join the team’s 40-man roster.

At the same time as Rushing's new beginning, the end came for Austin Barnes. The longest-tenured position player on the team was designated for assignment after 11 seasons and two World Series championships. Barnes, the backup catcher to Will Smith, was hitting .214 with three doubles and two RBI.
