A wildfire burning in the southwestern part of British Columbia grew to an estimated 50 hectares in size overnight, prompting an evacuation alert.

A wildfire in the rural Lawson Valley area of East County that charred 50 acres and likely started from a vehicle’s catalytic converter was declared 100% contained Saturday, Cal Fire officials said.
