Hamzah Sheeraz knocks out Edgar Berlanga in round 5, earning a title shot against the Canelo vs. Crawford winner at super middleweight.

Hamzah Sheeraz punctuated the first boxing card held on the grounds of the U.S. Open tennis tournament by stopping Edgar Berlanga in the fifth round Saturday night.

In the main event of an exciting "Ring III" card, presented by Turki Alalshikh, Sheeraz scored a pair of knockdowns to break open a tense start before brutally finishing Edgar Berlanga (23-2, 18 KOs) in Round 3 inside Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York.

Trinidad stopped 35 of his 42 victims on his way to the International Boxing Hall of Fame and inspired a generation of fighters from his homeland and beyond. One who has gone back and studied the legendary Trinidad is Edgar Berlanga, for whom Trinidad was a staple ingredient of his boxing education over the years.
