One skydiver died and another was injured following a midair collision in Rochelle, Illinois that caused both parachute canopies to collapse despite reserve parachutes being deployed.

Two skydivers collided in the air on July 9, leaving one dead and the other with minor injuries. This is the second fatal skydiving incident to take place in Illinois in a week after Dr. Noel Liu died Monday after he 'landed hard.

Less than a week before the deadly accident, Dr. Noel Liu announced he had just gotten his skydiving license. Alex Morgan, one of the best women's soccer players in U.S. history, announced her retirement from the game last fall.
