Scientists from the University of Athens monitoring an earthquake swarm near the island of Santorini say the phenomenon is in “gradual decline” nearly a month after the multiple tremors started.

Earthquakes that have been rocking the picturesque Greek island of Santorini has been gradually calming down a month since it began.

Santorini, hit by an earthquake in late January, has since been shaken by a swarm of tremors. Most of its 16,000 residents have fled, and authorities have declared a state of emergency on nearby Amorgos as the quakes continue.
