The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 6:50 p.m. EDT on Wednesday for strong thunderstorms until 7:30 p.m.

The State of Emergency was issued for 13 counties to help support long-term recovery efforts from flooding caused by Tropical Storm Chantal.

On Wednesday at 4:39 p.m. the NWS Raleigh NC released a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 5:30 p.m. The warning is for Harnett, Lee and Moore counties.
