AUSTIN — Democratic Fort Worth union leader Taylor Rehmet was sworn in Thursday as Texas’ newest state senator for a Tarrant County district many thought he would never win. Rehmet’s upset win in a north Tarrant County district that voted for Trump by 17 points in 2024 sent shockwaves across the nation.

On Monday, Trump endorsed Jace Yarbrough, who is running in the Republican primary for Texas’s 32nd Congressional District, calling him an “America First Patriot” and “a Brave Air Force Veteran,” on his Truth Social platform. Trump wrote that “HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”

Four-term incumbent Senator John Cornyn is defending his seat against three-term Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and two-term U.S. Representative Wesley Hunt.
