Netflix ended 2024 on a high note, adding nearly 19 million subscribers amid its holiday slate of live sports, but that isn’t keeping it from raising subscription fees again. In a letter to shareholders Tuesday,

Netflix has raised subscription prices again. Customers who live in the US, Canada, Argentina and Portugal will pay more to watch Netflix, the media giant shared ahead of its fourth-quarter earnings call on Tuesday.

In an email to CBS MoneyWatch, Netflix said it's boosting its subscription plans for American customers by about $1 to $2.50 per month, depending on the plan. A standard plan with ads will rise to $7.99 a month from the current $6.99

Netflix’s 2025 subscription prices include: The ad-supported tier at $7.99 per month, up from $6.99. The standard ad-free tier at $17.99 per month, up from $15.49. The premium tier at $24.99 per month, up from $22.99.

Netflix raising prices isn’t a new phenomenon. In 2011, a subscription to the streamer cost $8 a month. Since then, it has added different streaming tiers, as well as increasing the cost in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, and, now, 2025.

Netflix’s cheapest plan in the US with ads will go from $6.99 to $7.99 per month, while its priciest subscription is nearly $25. Netflix is raising prices yet again. In its latest earnings report released Tuesday, the streaming service announced that “we are adjusting prices today across most plans” in the US, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina.

Under the new pricing in the U.S., Netflix’s Standard plan without ads will rise by $2.50 — going from $15.49 to $17.99 per month. It’s been three years since Netflix upped the pricing of the Standard tier, which provides two simultaneous HD streams.

As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can reinvest to further improve Netflix,” the company told investors.

Flexing its pricing power, the company is rolling out price increases on several of its plans and in a handful of markets.
