Republican Senator Joni Ernst has introduced an amendment to the U.S. Senate's tax and spending megabill that would change two of the most contentious parts of that bill and could give a small boost to wind and solar projects that had been targeted in the draft being debated on the Senate floor.

Republican lawmakers are debating a bill that ramps up President Donald Trump’s assault on wind and solar power, a worse-than-expected jolt to clean energy while providing aid for fossil fuels.

Congress is one step closer to rolling back clean energy incentives. Senate Republicans passed their tax bill which gets rid of some wind and solar subsidies among other tax credits.
