Monday marks the start of the league's legal tampering period where teams can begin agreeing to deals with free agents ahead of all moves becoming official on Wednesday with the start of the new league year.

The Seattle Seahawks have been a bit confounding over the past few days, even to the well-trained eyes of the top professionals in NFL media, who have admitted as much in their analysis. Seattle traded QB Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders for a third-round pick over the weekend.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported that Metcalf was looking for a "more stable quarterback situation" before the Seahawks traded Smith to the Raiders. The team could meet with him to discuss their plans in hopes of still reaching an agreement on a new contract.
