• There were a couple of players who did underwhelm in the game. Marlins lefty Thomas White returned to the Futures Game, and for the second year in a row, he had trouble throwing strikes. He was 95-98 with a slider at 80-84, premium stuff, but half his pitches were called balls and they were bad misses at that.
S&P 500 futures were higher Tuesday, boosted by gains in Nvidia, as traders pored through the latest U.S. inflation data. Futures tied to the S&P 500 rose 0.3%, while Nasdaq 100 futures added 0.6%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures shed 83 points, or 0.2%.

Stock futures were little changed on Wednesday evening after the S&P 500 recouped some of its losses from this week's tariff-fueled slide. S&P 500 futures traded just below the flatline, along with Nasdaq 100 futures. Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average were down 37 points, or less than 0.1%.
"They have to have what it takes to succeed independently, but not if it relies on old structures," one expert told Newsweek.
Oil futures were lower with the market taking U.S. threats of Russia sanctions in stride given the 50-day deadline, and the August 1 deadline for the latest tariff threats to go into effect.
