Chicago will host its fireworks extravaganza on Saturday, July 5, while suburbs like Northbrook and Oak Lawn will hold their big displays on Independence Day.

While most Chicago-area fireworks shows will take place Friday to celebrate the Fourth of July, many suburbs will light the skies on July 3.

Though the City of Chicago will not host an official fireworks display on the Fourth of July, celebrations across the city’s neighborhoods and suburban towns promise a rich mix of parades, family-friendly events,
